Description
'Gulliver' DISK DRIVE", black metal framed disk drive mounted on silver metal frame within with disc unit and motor.

'Gulliver' Disk Drive
Data in the form of magnetic pulses are arranged in concentric rings on the disk's surface.
The disk is spun to create air pressure which prevents the read/write head(s) from scraping the disk's magnetic oxide coating and thus wearing it out.
The head(s) are thereby held a few millionths of a centimetre from the surface. They are mounted on an arm which can randomly access the rings on the disk's surface by means of solenoid control. This disk drive is fixed inside the computer.
