Description
Telephone exchange / switchboard from a business. Upright mahogany coloured wooden desk with shelf/desktop. Desk is hinged with a keyhole and key on face of it. Inset on desk is 2 rows of 10 red bakelight(?) bases with metal plugs attached to red cables; 1 row of 10 red lights and 1 row of white lights; and 2 rows of 10 metal switches with black tops inset into top of desk with metal plates. Top of desk also has a black metal casing for a rotary dialer, rotary dialer is still attached, but not inset. Rotary dialer is white with black numbers and marked "AUCKLAND / No........ / FOR EMERGENCIES / DIAL / 111". Upright over desk has been inset with 3 switches with black tops; a slight recess with 4 rows of red lights and 1 of white lights with and empty row for plugs above each row. Upright over desk also displays makers label plate "Western Electric / MADE IN USA".
