Mountain Bicycle [“Luntian” All-Terrain, Bambike] - frame is made of bamboo and abaca materials bonded with aircraft-grade alloys. Bike has a suspension fork, 30 gears, hydraulic disc brakes, Kenda tires, Shimano pedals, Velo bike seat, Traction brand handle bars and seat pole, and cork and rubber hand holds.
Brief History
Each Bambike is handmade by bamboo bike builders from Gawad Kalinga, a Philippine based community. This is part of the Company’s initiative to help create jobs within the community and to support the Philippines’ bamboo industry.
This Bambike was gifted to Sir John Key in 2012 from President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines. It was donated it to MOTAT in 2015.
