Description
Sepia coloured photograph of a standing soldier in uniform, possibly a British soldier. He is facing the viewer. He is wearing a white helmet, possibly a pith helmet, with a spike and cross shaped decoration at its apex. The helmet is held with a chin strap. The uniform jacket has decorated sleeves with a stylised pattern at the top and bottom of the spiked decorations. He is wearing a belt with a rounded metal buckle. There are six metal buttons closing the jacket and a lighter diagonal band from his left shoulder to under his right armpit. He is wearing white gloves on his hands. Both arms are extended downwards with his left hand grasping the handle of his sheaved sword. To his right is a fur rug on the patterned floor. To his left is a round pillar with a square base.
