Sentinel Compressor used for air-operated points
Brief History
This compressor was built by LDM, Lancashire and was installed in the redeveloped Auckland Rail Yard (also known as the Auckland Strand Station) in 1928. It was one of two compressors used to supply compressed air to power the air-operated points system in the yard. It became redundant in the early 1980s and was donated to MOTAT by the Signals Branch.
