Mentions landing in Le Harve on 13 August 1914 and experiences on the Western front including retreat from Mons. Mentions developing a fascination with flying while in the trenches. Moves onto first experience with flying in Heliopolis, Cairo in January 1918, training at the School of Military Aeronautics and joining No. 18 Training Depot Station in Ismalia. Mentions a flying incident where Fraser was found guilty of manslaughter in October 1918. Mentions returning to Scotland after prison sentence before moving to New Zealand and joining the Air Force.
