Description

Includes: (1) envelope from original supply of photographs of Jean Batten in Naples, is addressed to [Fred] Meuser (1930s); (2) letter from Mrs Y. M. A. Fowler-Meuser to [Shuttleworth Collection] mentioning her father (Fred Meuser) being stationed in Naples for KLM when Batten had to divert a flight to Naples due to poor weather in Rome, letter also mentions recently finding photographs of Batten amongst old papers and hopes to find a home for the photographs after reading about the return of the [G-ADPR Percival] Gull aircraft to New Zealand (16 September 1995); (3) letter between J Peel (Manager, Shuttleworth Collection) and Mrs Y. M. A. Fowler-Meuser which mentions the Gull already being in New Zealand, the development of a Jean Batten International Terminal at Auckland Airport, and forwarding the photographs to Auckland Airport for preservation and potential display (20 September 1995).
