Description
"The Ministry of Transport has advised that Government planning provides for the development of a sealed airstrip for F27-500 series aircraft in the Chatham Islands for completion in the early 1980s... The Ministry envisages that the service would be operated by NAC with F27-500 aircraft as a normal part of NAC's network and that fares and freight rates would be set to ensure that the service is self0supporting.
The present study was commissioned by the Assistant General Manager - Commercial in memo 22/3/7 MGC dated 5 October 1977 as the first step in evaluating the economics of the proposed air services.
The study objective is: to determine the feasibility of providing an F27-500 service Wellington/Chathams/Christchurch on an economic basis, and to establish the optimum configuration of F27-500 aircraft for such a service." - introduction
