Brief History
The Pye Achoic type 3807 is a stereo-projection record player system released in the 1960s. Using solid-state electronics, the Pye Achoic offered a stereo player of a significantly reduced size compared to valved units of the time. The stereo-projection system aims to project each stereo channel separately from the sides of the unit and reflected off the walls of the room to produce stereophonic surround sound without the need for extra speakers. The system features a Garrard AT5 auto-changer which can play up to six records dropped automatically onto the turntable. It also has a Pye 'Butterfly' lightweight tonearm and ceramic cartridge which minimises wear on the records. The Pye Achoic could also be purchased with a custom stand as an optional extra.
