Description
Elna Portable Sewing Machine.
Part 1: Green metal case with carry handle on top. The front panel of the machine hinges out to reveal a second facing with a 'L' shaped cut out in it. the Front half of the case opens out and up when the release buttons at the sides are pressed inwards. "SWISS MADE" is embossed on the base. Metal supports attached inside the case to hold machine. Case also serves as a sewing table.
Part 2: Green metal sewing machine with "ELNA" printed in white along the sides of the horizontal arm. Large flat platform at base onto which the machine is mounted. Along the machine bed, on the front face, "SUPPLIED BY / [?]bertson / [?] SEWING MACHINE CO. LTD. / [?] AUCKLAND C.1 / [?] CHRISTCHURCH" is printed. Machine bed cantilevers out and has a bobbin case at the end covered by a silver metal compartment. Presser foot located above feed dog. At the front, a long metal pole which is bent folds down and can be rotated. Power socket at rear,"ELNA / V220 / W 35 / TYPE 500970 / TAVARO S.A. GENEVE" printed on plate above. Power cable is missing. Drive wheel on right side, light switch on top. Metal pole for holding spool of thread protrudes upwards from back. Behind foot, there is a leaver to raise and lower the presser foot. Hinged hatch at back of upright arm, "1337971" engraved.
