Description
Course and speed calculator unit stored in wooden box with hinging lid. Clasps and carry handle on the front. Interior of box is lined with green felt. Printed in white on the side of the box is, "REF. NO. 6B/120 / COARSE & SPEED CALCULATOR / MK.II / W.C.PYE & CO. LTD / SERIAL No 4391/[...]". Unit consists of rectangular metal base plate with several rotating dials attached which have measurement increments marked on the edge. There is also a sliding ruler which oscillates with the dial. Clip on the side enables sliding of the dial up and down to change air speed. Also included in the box is an alternative ruler and a metal bar. Printed on the front of the calculator is "AIR SPEED / M.P.H / AIR SPEED / KNOTS". Printed on the back of the calculator is "COURSE & SPEED CALCULATOR / MK II / H.T.A. (1928) LTD / 111/40 / R.N.Z.A.F / 6B/111". Engraved on the back is "REMOVE THIS COVER TO CLEAN".
