Enlarged colour digital photographic print of the first manned flight of the Martin Aircraft Company Prototype Jetpack 12 with P12.1 airframe designed and manufactured in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Image is landscape and shows a close up of the P12 Martin Jetpack in flight with pilot with trees visible in the background. Pilot is James Bowker, engineer for Martin Aircraft Company.

Test flight was flown circa 25th June 2013.

The P12 Martin Jetpack was registered under New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority as a Class 1 microlight with registration number ZK-JMK, now cancelled. The jetpack serial number is P12.3, and is powered by a custom made 200hp V4 two stroke petrol engine based on the Honda CR500, with a carbon fire composites construction and frame, fans run by 850mm diameter belt drive ducted lifting fans.

This jetpack was designed and manufactured by the Martin Aircraft Company in Christchurch. Was flown until a crash into a lake in 2016 resulting in the aircraft to not be flown anymore. The P12 was sold on a Trademe auction from vendor Skylarc in November 2021 to a private bidder.
