Description
LOMAK cap with a headpointer mount. Black visor-style cap with "lomak" embroidered in grey and blue. The cap is held together by two velcro ends. Threaded throughout the cap is a plastic band which holds a grey mount and blue knob.
Brief History
In 1998, Mike Watling was working on prototyping a head unit to control his light operated keyboard and mounted lasers into a variety of caps, along with glasses frames and headbands. This visor, which holds the standard plastic LOMAK head unit was made in 2004, when the two decades of development work had come to an end and the LOMAK was a market-ready product. A number of visors were bought and “LOMAK” embroidered on the front, partly for advertising. The visors were given away with the purchase of a complete LOMAK unit and as promotional giveaways.
The LOMAK (Light Operated Mouse and Keyboard) is an assistive technology device developed in New Zealand for people with a physical disability who cannot use a standard computer keyboard or mouse.
