Description
Bottle-jack (also called roasting jack or spit jack). Brass unit, shaped like a bottle, with clockwork motor in a cylinder with octagonal base, hanging loop at top and small protrusion at bottom with small hole on end for attaching wheel, keyhole at side of cylinder. Impressed maker's mark "40 / SALTER & CO / WARRANTED". Wheel is iron, painted black with hook attached top and bottom, cross beam inside wheel with gaps at centre of each containing adjustable loop mechanisms. Key is small, silver, wide handle.
