Description
Steam driven, air compressor, Ingersoll Rand AA-2, built in the 1920s.
In-line steam cylinder, high-pressure air cylinder and low pressure cylinder on same longitudinal axis; flywheels/crank at head end of steam cylinder; valve operating rods at head of steam cylinder; Meyer-type adjustable, cut-off balanced steam engine; steam valves operated via 2 rockers working on a single eccentric; tail tube on L.P. air piston, apart from acting as the air intake, also assists in supporting the L.P. piston minimising cylinder/piston ring wear; adjustable, variable fly-ball governor - 2 ball watts-type. Painted blue (previously orange?)
