Book of cartoons covering the first 6 months of World War I. The cartoonist is W K Haselden and the cartoons were portrayed in the Daily Mirror, a newspaper. This book satirizes the enemy of England, the German leader, Kaiser Wilhelm and his son. The book title is: The Sad Experience of Big and Little Willie during the first 6 months of the Great War. These were cartoons appearing in the Daily Mirror which have been collected and placed in chronological sequence. Published by the Fine Art Society, 148 New Bond Street, Chatto and Windus, 111 St. Martins Lane. Price 1/- nett.
The cartoons are black and white ink sketches made on one side of stout, white paper and then bound together to form a book. There are 35 pages of humourous, topical illustrations of the progress of the war through the actions of the "2 Willies". The cover is made of 2 paper pages stuck together. The colour of the cover was originally an orange/grey. This has faded. On the front cover is a cartoon sketch of Big and Little Willie trying to thumb a ride. The number of pages is 35 with 2 or 3 cartoon sketches on each page. Some of the sketches have been partly coloured.
