Description

Badge embroidered onto a square of black wool cloth. Details outlined with fine gold wire. The centre of the backing cloth has two concentric circles. The centre of the inner circle is white. The outer circle is blue. A central golden eagle is embroidered with fine, gold wire. Written around the outer circle in gold wire, is: Royal New Zealand Air Force. At the base is a yellow scroll with a red backing. Written in Latin in black, is: PER ARDUA AD ASTRA. Embroidered at the top is a golden crown with a red centre and adorned with blue jewels around the base. A sheet of linen has been glued to the back of the backing sheet and covering the embroidery. A leatherette type fabric covers the linen.
