Description
1. Bubble Sextant (Mark IXA), black. At the back of the sextant is an eyehole with a rubber rim around it. Above it is a gold knob with '3VB' stamped on it and surrounded by a black washer. Below the eyehole is a black knob with a white arrow on it. On the front of the sextant is an oblong opening with a mirror inside. On top is a dome-shaped piece of orange plastic in a black metal casing. On the left side is a black battery tube with a black lever on it. There are 2 dials on this side and one is marked: 'SHADES'. Near the front is another black level with a circle stamped on it. On the right side of the sextant is a black tube with several round cut-outs in it. There are several knobs and dials on this side and they are marked: DEG., INCREASE. MIN. There is a strip of orange plastic attached with 6 metal screws. The plastic is marked in black: OBJECT, START, FINISH, ALTITUDE.
2. Case - laminated wood for Bubble Sextant, painted brown. On the lid there is a metal ID plate with a tag inside. There is a leather carry strap which is attached with metal clips. There are 2 metal clasps that hold the lid shut. There are 2 metal clasps that hold the lid shut. There are 3 metal tabs with holes cut out, perhaps for bolting down the case. Inside, the lid and sides of the case are lined with foam. On the bottom, there are 2 metal "cradles". One of the "cradles" holds 2 black tubes. There are 2 metal brackets on the bottom and one is covered in foam.
