Description
Single-cylinder, horizontal, steam engine, generating 47 HP at 95 rpm. The cylinder bore = 12" and Stroke = 24".
Brief History
This engine was used until 1977 at Morningside Timber Mill, Auckland, to power machinery in the sawmill operated by Carter Merchants (now known as Carters). The mill was located between the Morningside railway station and Taylor's Road.
Logs were delivered to the mill’s private siding by New Zealand Rail, and the logs were machined inside the mill by machinery driven by this engine.
