Brass badge with large horseshoe magnet in the centre and a 6-spoke wheel in the centre. Electric sparks can be seen emanating from the wheel. Below is a banner which has embossed on it: "Auckland Electric Tramways Company Ltd."

AET hat badges (which is the emblem of the British Electric Traction Company) that owned the AET were in use from approx 1907-8 until 1919. The replaced early stencil numbered plate badges and were replaced by Auckland City Tramway badges of the same design.
