Description
Used by sailors/aviators lost at sea. The kites were fitted with a radio and antenna. Printed on one kite are instructions. The kites are packed in a long cylindrical metal tube. The kite is made up of yellow cotton fabric around thin hollow aluminium rods. There are 2 kite sections - each has 4 aluminium ribs with cross-rib extensions that open up to form a box kite. The 2 halves then slot into each other to form a perfect box kite. The kite is then flown by the sailor to raise an antenna. This kite was used in conjunction with a "Gibson Girl" transmitter.
