Description
Candlestick (vertical standing) phone black with a circular felt green base; front view: receiver hangs from a horizontal forked handle on the left with a green cable extending from the top into the back of the base, the handset is black with a brass ear piece. The dial is set on the base in the centre directly below the mouth piece. The numbers on the dial are printed in black against a white background from 0 to 9, in the centre of the dial on a beige circular piece of paper guarded by a plastic film are the words "LISTEN FOR/HUMMING SOUND/BEFORE DIALLING/NO.............."
Mouth piece is circular with the manufacturers details inscribed along the outer base, "SIEMENS BROTHERS & CO LIMITED LONDON" the words after "BROTHER" are faded but legible under a magnifying glass. The mouth piece is attached to a forked vertical handle that allows it's position to be adjusted up or down.
Back view: The serial number is inscribed on the lower rim of the mouth piece "S234 NO 22". A braided green cable extends from the base of the phone and would be attached to the wall when in operational use.
