Description
White plastic helmet with a white chin strap. Black strip down the centre top ridge of the helmet. Embossed on the interior underside of the helmet rim, 'SAFETY SUPPLY COMPANY / SUPER / CHIEFTAIN / SAFE.T. HELMET / MADE IN CANADA.'
Brief History
This is an example of the Chieftain style helmet used by fire fighters. This style of helmet was made in the North America from polycarbonate. Polycarbonate helmets replaced heavier helmets made of compressed cork. It is plastic that was first manufactured in Germany during 1956 and used for safety gear, among other applications.
