Description
British Red Cross War Medal in original presentation box.
The medal is gold coloured, circular and is marked "BRITISH RED CROSS SOCIETY FOR WAS SERVICE 1914-1918" with cross in centre with wreath around. The reverse is marked "INTER / ARMA / CARITAS" surrounded by wreath. The medal is attached to the white ribbon by a metal ring. The bar at the top of the medal has a rough surface, on the reverse is stamped with the maker's name "J.R.GAUNTLONDON" and has a pin for wearing.

The box is small, cardboard, consists of lid, base and an insert that the medal is pinned to in box. Lid top has white background, red border and is marked "BRITISH / RED CROSS SOCIETY / FOR WAR SERVICE / 1914-1918" with the red cross logo in centre surrounded by a wreath. On the underside of the box lid is the maker's name and the royal seal "J.R. GAUNT & SON LTD. / 60 CONDUIT ST. W. / TO THE KING".

Base of box is white on exterior and light brown inside.

Insert of box is flat piece of card with pin holes in.
