Brief History
Mike Watling began prototyping his concept for a light operated keyboard in 1982, initially developing a pair of glasses with the light source mounted in the centre which would activate sensors in the keyboard, allowing the user to work with a computer using head movements only.
This head unt is part of the final LOMAK product, launched following two decades of development work. A pointer unit, containing the light source, fits in the mount on the side of the headband.
The LOMAK (Light Operated Mouse and Keyboard) is an assistive technology device developed in New Zealand for people with a physical disability who cannot use a standard computer keyboard or mouse.
